And the Fight Goes On-RSD and Access to Care-the $64K Question,

This blog is going to be through the inspiration of another.

I want to clearly state that I am not holding any position politically, not on the record, so to speak.

What my story is-well, since I am here to tell that of other friends with Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy/Complex Regional Pain Syndrome-and probably a few people who are going to have a diagnosis of further complications, the rates seem to be increasing, the addition of disability claims being denied in well, many and an alarming number of those like myself, who are on any kind of government assistance, it seems as if the eyes, :-) are rolling before some of them-doctor's offices, well, for many let's be quite frank, the local "pain clinic" as one friend put it so very well?

Sleepless nights, nervous stomachs, and well, stress?

Well, for those like myself?  It literally can be a "killer" both literally and figuratively..

I pray that at first, perhaps friends who I pray will speak out-share the story of the same continual basis, the  frustrations, the feeling like simply accessing any kind of healthcare is overwhelming for some.  Because when I read one comment, that I guess I am amongst the "crowd" of well, welfare cases, cranking out a family to increase the monthly check as one person had not so kindly forgotten a few facts:

  • In the state of Washington, the "welfare/government" stipend for a single parent, for example, is $380.  That's it folks, and it's not likely to be on the rise, I think.

In 1997, that amount was at $340 for a single person, and sure many were steered to the SSI/SSDI/SSA program.  And it's another set of problems.

You lose benefits for an amount that can be

Oh, that's also if you are "approved for SSI/SSA" and also many of these recipients are put on a "spend down?"  Anyone know the lingo?  It's when you are able to well, to "spend" an "out of pocket?"  Well, when you make maybe $11,500 a year, and it can vary for one if you?

Move where the cost of living is lower-then payments from SSA will typically drop further?

Sure they do.  It is the US government.

Is your head swimming?

Sobering, isn't it?

If you wish for an interview, please keep in mind, that one thing, I am one person, but this topic being something also of a personal issue.  Comments will be moderated for any reason, simply because I protect also the privacy of the individual that is wishing to be interviewed, at least in respect to the email provided so that you also may avoid some pitfalls, well of publishing certain information online, these things happen, and I also know what it takes to speak out-and I pray this is a chance for some to be heard.

I am searching for those within the RSD/CRPS community in particular-however, sometimes a call for change begins at home too.
